This castle was built to house troops and protect the Alcazaba&nbsp,and was named after a lighthouse at its peak (Jabal-Faruk, the light mountain). Although it was used by the Phoenicians and Romans, in 1340 the Nasrid King Yusuf I turned the site into a fortress.&nbsp,From its walls, you can enjoy&nbsp,breathtaking views: during clear days you can see the whole bay, the Strait of Gibraltar and even some Rif mountains in Africa.
