Marbella Travel Tips

CHOOSE YOUR DATES

The Costa del Sol is a sunny region with little rainfall and a subtropical Mediterranean climate. This also applies to Marbella which, with an average of over 315 sunny days a year, offers an ideal mix of dry, sunny summer months and pleasant, mild winter months.  Already in March the daytime temperature often  rises 20 °C, and good temperatures for bathing extend from May to October. During the coldest winter  month (January) daytime temperatures do not usually drop below 15ºC. Spring and autumn are delicious. So, any time of the year is ideal to come here. Of course, during the high summer season (July, August and September), the city is more crowded and prices are much higher. Some hotel establishments close in winter but most of them open throughout the year.

HOW TO GET  By air. The Airport of Málaga-Costa del Sol (AGP) is the main reference both for national and international flights: it is 51 km away from Marbella, and there is a direct bus which leaves from Terminal 3.

By car. If you decide to rent a car, you must drive through A-7 motorway towards Cádiz – Algeciras until you find the exit to Marbella. It takes about 35 minutes depending on traffic conditions. There are tolls called AP-7, which lets you save some time. The journey will be faster but less beautiful.

By bus. You will find several routes from the main cities of Costa del Sol, Andalusia or also Spain with efficient services.

By train. Trains do not reach Marbella. It is practical to travel on speed train AVE to Malaga (María Zambrano Station) and then move to Marbella by bus, taxi, rental car or transfer service.

FROM THERE  Marbella is a fantastic place from which to visit other tourist destinations on the Costa del Sol, either from the coast or inland (such as the very interesting and historic Ronda). You will need a little more than 1 hour to get to Gibraltar, a little more than two hours to get to Granada or Córdoba and an additional half hour to Seville.
