Plaza de España

Plaza de España, 28013 Madrid, Spain

Rating: 4,0

(1.760 reviews)
This popular square, one of the largest in Spain, is flanked by two of the buildings that were once "the skyscrapers" of Madrid (Torre de Madrid and Edificio de España) but the most distinctive thing is in the center of the square: the Monument to Cervantes with his two famous characters, Don Quixote and Sancho Panza. After a thorough and recent renovation, this iconic square has become the starting point for several walking routes. You'll love the route that takes you to the Royal Palace on a pleasant, car-free stroll. Other routes will lead you to Madrid Río, Casa de Campo (an extensive green area), or Parque del Oeste. In total, nearly 70,000 m² of space invite you to wander, breathe deeply, and leave the cars behind.
