Serranos Towers

Plaça dels Furs, s/n, 46003, València, Spain

Rating: 4,6

(47.025 reviews)
These emblematic towers, built in the 14th century, are—along with the Quart Towers—the only gates still standing from Valencia's old Christian wall. Before that, there were Roman and Arab walls, but this was always a key entry point due to the strategic location near the river. In 1865, when the walls were demolished to expand the city, the Serranos Towers remained intact. Climb them for magnificent panoramic views from the battlements.

Today, the Serranos Towers are one of Valencia's main historical attractions and an iconic symbol of the city. It is no coincidence that this is the place from which the Fallera Mayor (the Queen of the Fallas) each year on the last Sunday in February, welcomes Valencians and visitors, marking the beginning of the Fallas festivities. Near these towers, at the rear, stood the Bab Al Qantara gate (the bridge gate) of the Islamic wall.
