Zaragoza is Spain's fifth-largest city and the capital of the Aragon region. Known as Saraqusta during the Islamic period, it was one of the most important cities of Al-Andalus and the center of a prominent independent taifa kingdom. Its legacy endures in the imposing Palacio de la Aljafería and in some of the most exquisite masterpieces of Mudejar art. But Zaragoza is much more. It is a friendly, lively city nourished by the Ebro River, Spain's largest and most voluminous river—a powerful symbol of the city and a true source of enjoyment for locals and visitors alike.
